-Fútbol americano:
El viernes 23 de septiembre tuvimos nuestro primer partido de la fase de distrito. Son seis partidos y al acabarlos los 3 o 4 primeros pasan a playoffs. Fue contra Mabank, que es un pueblo cercano a Athens y hay rivalidad entre ambos. Desde el primer cuarto fuimos ganando y el resultado final fue 14-42 con victoria nuestra. Para mí fue un partido especial ya que chute todos los puntos extra y kick offs e hice mi primer placaje. También me hice bastante daño porque me metió un cabezazo en el pecho al chocar, pero peor fue la avalancha humana que se me echó encima para felicitarme por haber evitado el touchdown del otro equipo. La verdad es que fue un partido increíble, y a la semana siguiente el Pep Rally fui uno de los ``Bone crusher´´por el placaje. Sin embargo, los dos siguientes partidos los perdimos, el 30 frente a Van y el 7 ante Kaufman.

-Cross country:
El sábado tras vencer a Mabank tuve carrera en Lapoynor, un cross totalmente plano, 5 km, en el que conseguí la tercera posición y hacer un tiempo de 18 minutos 11 segundos, mi mejor marca hasta entonces. En esa carrera el equipo de Athens consiguió bastantes medallas lo cual está genial de cara a district.
El sábado siguiente tuve una pésima carrera en Ferris, donde a pesar de llegar el séptimo a meta hice un tiempo de 19 minutos justos. Me enfadé bastante conmigo mismo por aquello, pero supe aprovecharlo para esforzarme más, y en la siguiente carrera, sábado 8 de octubre en Fairfield, hice un tiempo de 17 minutos 40 segundos. Lo mejor es que esa también será la carrera de district así que ya conozco el recorrido y sé cómo ir en cada tramo.
-Cross country:
Saturday after playing Mabank I ran in Lapoynor a completely flat five kilometer trail in which I got the third place and I did it in 18 minutes 11 seconds, my best mark until then. At that race Athens cross country team did such a good job getting a bunch of medals.
The Saturday after that one I did an awful race at Ferris, where even though i finished seventh i did the race in 19 minutes. I got really upset with myself, but I´ve been able to make the most of it and the following race, on Saturday the eighth at Fairfield I did five km in 17 minutes 40 seconds. The good new is that that will be the district so I already know the trail and I know the pace I have to set at each part of it.
-Six Flags Over Texas:
El día que tuve la carrera en Lapoynor fui por la tarde a uno de los mejores parques de atracciones en los que he estado, Six Flags, con Bayleigh y su familia. Además, por Halloween hacen el Fright Fest, que es que a partir de las siete de tarde sueltan a los payasos, zombies, fantasmas y otros monstruos y van asustando a la gente por el parque, eso fue de lo más divertido. Iba escuchando grits todo el rato, algunos incluso saltando por encima de las mesas de lo asustados que estaban.
A la semana siguiente volví con mis amigos y disfruté como un niño otra vez. Nos montamos en todas o al menos gran parte de las atracciones y no hay palabras para describirlo, no podría quedarme con una sola atracción.
Ambas veces fui a casas encantadas que hay en el parque (hay como cinco o seis), La primera vez fui a una que estaba ambientada en un matadero, y la segunda a una que se llamaba Circus y estaba repleta de payasos, daban mal rollo más que miedo, era siniestro. Aún así ninguna de las dos me asustó tanto como esperaba.
Una de las mejores cosas de haber ido a Six Flags la segunda vez fue el trayecto en furgoneta, lo mejor de hacer excursiones o viajes son los momentos en el autobús o el coche con la gente compartiendo buenos ratos.
-Six Flags Over Texas:
Right after running at Lapoynor I went to one of the best theme parks i´ve ever been to, Six Flags Over Texas, with Bayleigh and her family. In addition, because of Halloween there was the Fright Fest, an event in which zombies, creepy clowns, ghosts and other monsters are set free and walk around the park shouting and scaring people, so you are all the time hearing screams and, to be honest, it was really funny seeing people jumping over picnic tables and running as they have never done.
The following week I came back with my friends and we had an awesome time. We rode most of the rides and there are no words for describing it, I wouldn't be able to choose only one ride.
Both times I went i also visited haunted houses at the park (there are five or six). First time, I went to one that was like a slaughterhouse, and the second time I went to a different one called Circus which was full of creepy clowns. None of them scared me as I thought they were going to.
The second time I went, one of the best things was the driving from Athens to Arlington and back, those moments are always the best part of trips, sharing a good time with your friends.
El sábado 8 de octubre fui con Larry, Chris y Lacey a la feria del estado de Texas en Dallas. La feria de Texas es alucinante. Lo primero que hicimos fue montar en la que fue por bastante tiempo la noria más grande de Estados Unidos, Texas Star, desde la cual tuvimos unas vistas increíbles de toda la feria y de Dallas, que por cierto era bastante verde. También pudimos ver el estadio de la universidad de Dallas, la A&M, ese día jugaban contra Oklahoma Sooners y estaba especialmente llena la feria. Desde la noria pudimos ver una zona del recinto ferial en la que había una pantalla enorme para ver el partido, y en la última jugada del partido que podía cambiarlo todo se les fue la electricidad. Aquello fue demasiado gracioso. Finalmente ganó Oklahoma.
También tuve el placer de conocer a Big Tex, un muñeco de unos 28 metros de altura que se movía y hablaba que es la imagen de la feria. En la zona en la que se encontraba Big Tex estaban todos los bares y restaurantes: colas enormes por aquí y por allá, un ajetreo increíble... Y olor que se te hacía la boca agua. Esa fue la primera vez que comía carne de cocodrilo frita. Esto es curioso porque te freían hasta las zapatillas. El postre fue tarta de queso y brownie fritos y, no sé como, estaban buenísimos, si vuelvo con quilos de más ya sabéis.
Tras comer seguimos paseando por la feria hasta llegar a la zona del ganado, donde tuve el honor de acariciar y tomarme una foto con un ``longhorn´´. Había bastantes, cada cual con unos cuernos más grandes que el anterior. Al salir del cercado de los ``longhorns´´fuimos a un show de vacas dirigido por vaqueros reales, de los que viven de ello. Era impresionante el control que tenían sobre el caballo y ver cómo no se asustaban al hacerse cargo del ganado cuando se enfadaban.
Para cerrar el dia en la feria, hubo una cabalgata que estuvo muy bien, y tras ella tuvo lugar un espectáculo que era completamente nuevo en la feria. Combinaba fuegos artificiales, luces, agua y coreografías que eran pura gimnasia, todo en uno, fue precioso, el día no podría haber acabado mejor.

On Saturday October the eighth I went with Larry, Chris and Lacey to the Texas State Fair in Dallas. It´s amazing. First we did was riding the ferris wheel, which was the biggest of the US for a while, the Texas Star, from which we had incredible views of Dallas and the fair. We were also able to see the football game of the Texas A&M University against Oklahoma University Sooners, and hat was the reason why the fair was specially crowded. There was a zone in the fair with a huge screen where people were able to watch the game, and suddenly in the last play of the game that could have changed the score it looses the connection and switches off. That was really funny. Finally Oklahoma got the victory.
I also had the pleasure of meeting Big Tex, a 28 meter (55 feet) figure that moved and talked which is the image of the fair. There were lots of bars and restaurants where it was: very long lines everywhere, hustle and bustle... And a charming mouth-watering smell. That was the first time I ate alligator meat, and it tasted pretty good. The fun fact was that you could find ANYTHING fried, I mean my dessert was freed cheesecake and fried brownies. It first sounded nasty to me but once you try it you know you were wrong. That´s also the reason why I´ll come back with some more weight.
After having lunch we kept walking in the fair until we got to te cuttle zone, where I was able to touch and take a picture with a longhorn. There was a bunch of them, everyone with bigger horns than the previous. Then, we went to a cow show presented by real cowboys, that live of cuttle, and I was quite amazed with the way they managed with angry cows and the control they had over their horses.
For finishing, there was a cool parade, and later a brand new show which combined fireworks, lights, water and choreographies that were pure gymnastics, it was gorgeous, the day could´t have ended in a better way.

El lunes 3 de octubre, por la tarde, fue la presentación de todos los equipos del instituto, los equipos Junior Varsity eran nombrados mientras que los Varsity subían al escenario y eran presentados uno por uno. Se reunió una buena cantidad de gente allí la verdad, y con la banda, la comida que daban y las risas se formó un buen ambiente.
Sin embargo, lo más raro que pude hacer ese día fue hacer caso a Sierra y Maci e ir con ellas a tomar helado con patatas fritas. Esto fue como los brownies fritos: sabe mejor que suena.

On Monday October the third, in the evening, the high school sports teams were presented. Junior Varsity teams were just named while Varsity teams were named player by player and they went up to a platform. There was a good crowd, and a good atmosphere was formed with the band, food and laughs.
Nevertheless, the weirdest thing I did that day was letting Sierra and Maci take me to eat ice cream with french fries. It was like fried brownies though: it tastes better than it looks.

Tras la carrera en Ferris fui con los Russell a Plano que habíamos quedado para ir a pasar el día con unas amigas. Comimos en un restaurante de comida española donde comí algunos de los platos que echo de menos como patatas bravas, tortilla de patatas, calamares a la romana, embutidos... Estaba bastante bueno la verdad, y sin lugar a duds lo mejor fue el alioli. Sabía igual o casi como el de España y estaba genial, pero en vez de ser blanco era verde porque lo habían hecho con cilantro.
Por la tarde fuimos de compras. Lo pasamos realmente en grande.

After the meet in Ferris the Russell family and I went to Plano to meet some friends we were going to spend the day with. We had lunch at a Spanish food restaurant where I ate some of my home country dishes such as patatas bravas, tortilla de patatas, embutidos, calamares a la romana... It was pretty good, but with no doubt the best thing was the alioli sauce, I swear it tasted very similar to the one in Spain and it was really good. Instead of whit it was green though because they made it with cilantro. In the afternoon we went shopping. We had a really good time.
